Talking to Each Other
In "Talking To Ourselves" @cobaltblue frames "social" in the context of Twitter/Fedi (Twitter-FOSS-Wannabe). Fedi is better on several dimensions. The same on the only one that matters: conversations. One-on-one conversations. Conversations not designed to be public. Conversations that MIGHT invite in others but that don't advertise (beg) for others. And that's the subject @cobaltblue dances around.
Finding others to talk to/with is hard. Taking the conversation private so you can actually converse without a cacophony of noise is harder. And there are no easy or glitzy ways to do that. DM is designed to be unattractive. It is messaged to be "less than" the post-stream. But, ultimately, we talk to each other one-on-one, "off-line".
