They are hosted at Cloudflare and this is probably the Cloudflareproxy doing some checks before relaying your request. It is annoyingand it sometimes block things such as the Tor browser. You may have tochange/modify your configuration :-(

It is some work to install your own instance and there are many ofexisting instances of Gitlab or Gitea. (Personnally, I use Framagit, aGitlab instance.) But, as I said, this is a detail, there is noperfect solution and the BDFL choosed.
