The idea before building this site (and now the gemini capsule) was to be able to manage the site wherever I was in the world with some basic tools :
Yes, that's all...Ok, maybe a terminal ? It's also very usefull.
No problem for a PC under GNU/Linux of course but for the other computer that (almost) everyone has, the smartphone, it's not so easy. I had to add some apps, free apps from F-droid :
And to read gopher and gemini sites, I use ....nothing for Gopher because apps are too old or buggy. But for Gemini, I use Buran (like the Russian space shuttle), a small browser with bookmarks (and a clone of Ariane). So for Gopher, I have no choice but to use the Opera browser on my old Android 7 smartphone :
It's the same, if I want, for Gemini
The second idea was to have an access to the files of the site which are on my computer. For this, I have my pcloud application on both with a synchronisation of a folder. I could also do this with nextcloud, of course or even with the old sftp tool… Up to you.
Updating my blog in Gemini and html/http has never been easier. Two or free files for the links and the feed and that's fine. As I write everything in markdown, the «translation» in gemtext is just a matter of url links in index files or the gophermap, for gopher users.
But I have to admit that it's easier to write on my computer with a keyboard. I can also do it on my «work» computer when I have spare time with access to my home files (just the «work in progress» directory). I just had to organise my files to make them logical and easy to send, to back-up, etc..
I'm sure everyone has their own tips & tricks...
