I'm kind of growing to hate the Fediverse almost as much as I hate corporate social media. I really like the idea, but there's very little choice in what kind of instance you'd like to be a part of. Generally you can pick Mastodon instances with the same Twitter-bluecheck rules on what kind of opinions can be expressed, or some Pleroma instance where you'll likely get harassed by actual nazis. It's fucking ridiculous and I'm growing very disillusioned with this experience.

Out of anywhere I've made a profile in, Station and other retro or revival boards/messengers seem to have a pretty sound rational userbase with consistent organic conversations. IDGI why anywhere else is riddled with hot garbage and rotten people. · 1 year ago
