'Success Northwest' employability project launched in Derry

A new Employability project funded by the Shared Prosperity Fund was

launched this week by the Mayor of Derry and Strabane, Councillor

Patricia Logue.

The new project will provide training and assistance into employment

for people who are economically inactive in Derry and Strabane Council

district.

Programme Manager for the project, Conor Heaney, said: “We are

delighted that this project is now up and running.

“We have eight partner hubs throughout every DEA in the Council

District, that is each area of the city the rural hinterland and

Strabane and Castlederg.”

He added: “Our aim is to reduce economic inactivity in this area which

been consistently at very high levels in comparison to other areas.

“The former ESF project is now funded by the Department of Housing and

Levelling Up through the Shared Prosperity Fund.”
