Shakey!
Anyways, as stated by John McCarthy during the Lighthill debate, the term "AI" was invented to get money:
Excuse me, I invented the term artificial intelligence ... I invented it because we had to do something when we were trying to get money for a summer study
... and all that is solid melts into Public Relations (PR).

This reads as a PR for predictive AI, probably because they do not want their funding sources to dry up. Most humans are weird like that.
Now, some game programmers do seem very enthused about generative AI. Perhaps they have imbibed of the flavor-aid, or perhaps they wish to generate steaming loads of content

because that will improve their game and thus get more bucks to stop where they are. (Or the rate at which they lose bucks will be slower in this modern, advanced economy. A Dickens of a problem, so to speak.)
Guilty! I haven't actually directly used any chatgpt thing. I have dabbled in AI programming, and wired up something that could mostly get XOR right (it took mutce CPU in so doing) and another thing that produced not very good music (it look mutce mutce CPU in so doing).
even more efficient me on keyboard
Dave Cope did the music generation thing a bit better than I managed in my spare time. And if you're after money then you'll need to do whatever it takes.
