Derry Court: Man charged with stalking and harassment released on bail

Paddy Leonard, 24 May

A man has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court today charged with

stalking and harassment charges.

Conor Lees (25) of Gelvin Grange in Derry was brought to court after

breaching his police bail.

He is charged with stalking a female aggravated by domestic abuse on

dates between March 14 and May 5 this year.

He was also charged with harrassment over the same period and also with

engaging in a course of conduct that could be deemed abusive behaviour.

A police officer connected the accused to the charges.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that police were agreeable to

Lees being released on bail subject to conditions.

A police officer told the court that Lees had been given a 28 day

charge with conditions he was not to go within 50 metres of the alleged

injured party.

The officer said that the woman had been in a bar and Lees had entered

the premises.

The defendant was released on bail on condition he does not enter

licensed premises, does not go within 100 metres of the woman's home or

work, does not enter the Galliagh area and observe a curfew.

He will appear again on June 21.
