while browsing gemini I found an old archived text originating from a long extinct usenet group based around fractals. gemini://gemini.spam.works/mirrors/textfiles/internet/FAQ/fractal.faq
Its kind of funny how text are timeless, in a way. I never would have known it was written in 1993 if the date had not been there. the MIT ftp servers mentioned are unsuprisingly dead. The author/maintainer is credited as "Ken Shirriff" (In retrospect its wierd how people used to use their real names unworried with privacy concerns) And doing a quick search I found the guys website. Its all about retro-computing and tech project so figured some of you guys would be interested https://www.righto.com/p/about-ken-shirriff.html

I wonder how many unmaintained servers are just floating around in the either. Neat. ยท 1 year ago

I wonder what happened to Ken in those 30 years between 1993 and now. Its crazy how a person can live an entire life while a long-forgotten fragment of their existance sits on some hard-drive waiting to be rediscovered. What forgotten fragments of your past are still online on a server? ยท 1 year ago
