Something About
January 13, 2021

it was whispered to me in the smallest hours
between the cold of new moon and the shoulder kitten
now puffy, considering an abandon motion
disturbed by the breath in my ear
distorted by fluffy paws and the sort of fear that spreads kitten farts
like charts of the stars in gauze and reflectionless pumice
of the things we do not steal

something about withstanding storm
how either I or the kitten would be brought low
and void ��s laughter to the side, apart from that garbled rasp
clarified nothing

scritches to kitten
glasses on, dawn a thousand-yard stare away
a bathroom run, wet food to replenish a purr ��s motor
and grumbles, something about the storm
behind a clear sky, occasional drift of meteor
flickering

screw the storm
in six minutes there will be coffee
and it ��s reasonably clear
whispers at zero three hundred
haven ��t checked the forecast in years
