M5Paper

2021-01-31

I ordered this little ESP32 powered thing this week along with a handful of other geeks (and growing) on the fediverse. It has an eink display, touch panel, integrated battery, USB C port, 3 little expansion connectors and thanks to the ESP32 it also has WiFi and Bluetooth. I am not smart enough to write software to make it do what I want but the other people getting one along with me are thankfully much smarter than me. So I think they'll end up making it do some neat stuff before too long. I'm not sure if it will be feasible to do EVERYTHING I'm imagining but I think enough of it is doable that I'll be pleased with it. I have seen some mention on reddit of battery drain being higher than it should be considering the hardware but the device is very new so I hope we'll see those kinds of bugs fixed.

PS. This is my second post in as many days which is definitely not going to be my normal posting frequency. I just happened to get this neat little gadget in the mail this morning and I'm excited about it.
