I've been "experimenting" with paper more these days. It's more of a hassle to transform the ideas from pen to machine later on, but I do seem to retain more in the process.

It doesn't seem that hard to transcribe from paper into a text file, but it does take a little time. I figure it's a good opportunity to make minor revisions.
