** Crock O' Gold ** ** Offline Reader for Delphi ** 1997 Ewen Wannop Crock O' Gold is an offline reader for Delphi using Spectrum v2.1. It is designed to automate your sessions with Delphi, and lets you compose and read your messages at leisure while offline. Please take a little time to read this file, and once you have installed Crock O' Gold and restarted your IIgs, to also read all the entries for Crock O' Gold that show in the !Help! NDA. You must first install Crock O' Gold by following the 'Quick Start' instructions below. You will need to have a fully installed copy of Spectrum v2.1 on your hard disk, and have installed all the XCMDs that came with the program. If you are going to connect to Delphi using Sprintnet, then that is all you will need to do. If you plan to Telnet to Delphi using Genie or Compuserve, or some other service provider, you will also need to read the Crock O' Gold 'Connect Files' entry in the !Help! NDA to find out how to setup for those services. Quick Start Double-click the Installer file, or run the Installer script directly from Spectrum. Follow the screen prompts to tell the Installer where to put the Crock O' Gold application and the COG scripts folder. You will first need to enter your Delphi User Name and Password, and you will also need to tell the Installer the connect phone number for your service provider. It will take one or two minutes to copy all the files, so be please be patient. In some cases, where a file already exists, the Installer might ask you to confirm before you overwrite it. In these cases you may keep the existing files if you wish. The Installer will start Spectrum if you double-click the icon, and will Quit Spectrum when it has finished. Because some new XCMDs are going to be installed, this action is necessary. You will need to restart Spectrum before you can use the new XCMDs. After the installation, you will find a file 'Installer.Log' in the Crock O' Gold folder. This will show where all the files were installed. Once the Install process has been completed, you will not need to keep the Crock O' Gold folder that you installed it from. To actually use Crock O' Gold once you have installed it, you simply double-click the 'Crock.O.Gold' S16 application. This can be placed anywhere you like on your hard disk, or even the desktop. The first time you run this application, it will ask you to locate the 'Start.COG' file in the 'COG' folder, and also your working copy of Spectrum. You will not need to tell it this information again. If you are already within Spectrum, then you can start Crock O' Gold by running the 'Start.COG' script. Slower Start You can manually install Crock O' Gold by dragging the appropriate files to the correct places. But this is really a pointless exercise when the Installer will do all this for you automatically. But for completeness, or for the die-hards who hate to do things the easy way, I shall describe where all the various files go... COG Place the entire folder into your Spectrum folder. Crock.O.Gold Place the application wherever you want on your hard disk. Desk.Accs Place contents into the *:System:Desk.Accs: folder. If you already have !Help! installed, then only install the !Help! NDA if it is newer, and place the contents of Help.Files into the existing Help.Files folder. Icons Place the contents in the Icons folder on your Boot drive. Fonts Place the contents in your *:System:Fonts: folder. User.Logons Refer to the 'Connect Files' entry in the !Help! NDA. XCMDs Place contents into the :Add.Ons:XCMDs: folder in your working Spectrum folder replacing any exisitng XCMDs. Spectrum.Script Optionally place in your Spectrum.Script folder and use the 'Menu' file as a Spectrum Menufile.
