SameGame GS 1.0b4 by Volkmar Friauf, volkmar.friauf@koeln.netsurf.de This is the Apple IIGS version of a game of logic which is quite popular in the Unix and in the Mac world. System Requirements are: Apple II GS ROM 01 or 03 (00 not tested yet), 1.25 MB RAM (2 recommended), GS/OS 5.01 or later. Accelerator card is highly recommended; this may change in the final release. The goal is to capture all squares from the board. Squares can only be captured if they are vertically or horizontally connected to at least one square of the same color - which means, only chunks of two or more squares can be captured. If squares have been captured, the upper tiles fall into the free space. If a complete column is empty, the right columns will move left to fill the space. So you have to think ahead to avoid single squares remaining... Scoring is (n-2)^2 points per chunk of n squares which have been captured Standard settings are: Five square colors within a 20*10 board. You can change the numbe of colors and the board size; the more colors and the larger the board, the harder the game will be. - Currently, as the screen update routines are very slow in this beta release, the 32*16 and 40*20 board sizes should only be played if you have an accelerator card. This is just a beta release; I hope to finish this game within the next weeks. Features to be included in the final release are: Save games and continue them later Optional sounds for captured squares Scoring variations Save actual game settings (size, color, variation, sound toggle) Highscores ;-) And I promise to remove some spaghetti from the code to get it faster... If you find any bugs or if you have any comments, suggestions etc., please write an e-mail to: volkmar.friauf@koeln.netsurf.de BTW, SameGameGS is postcardware. If you like it, 1) pass copies around & upload it as much as you can (the GS will only survive if enough software is around... may it be as lousy as this little game!), and 2) please send me a postcard of your hometown or of your Apple II! :-) My address: Volkmar Friauf Kasparstr. 2 D-50354 Huerth, Germany And now for the legal stuff: This program is copyright (C) 1997 by Volkmar Friauf.
