Evening 
November 24, 1991 

table set with romantic candles
table set for four and two
a couple and children sit across from us
they achieved what we set out so long ago to do

we walk out with the company
over than night for dinner
the only time we are together
we always play the game
step out for one last curtain call
who will be our audience now
a judge to end the matrimony
as we ceased kind words along ago

it started out alright, remember
I loved you and you loved me
but this system fails in stormy weather
now all that's left is game

it feels like we're upon a stage
acting out some fantasy
where we will always get on fine
so long as we are not alone
I feel some fire is dying now
our age is catching up to us

our passion's dead, our dice long tossed
who cares about our labors lost
while they are here it's all the same
we act as lovers-
see our game?
