Eulogy Crack
February 4, 2011

I was to have dreamed of my father again
that I might in my weakness find compassion, somehow
replace that infinite bored loathing with memories of love
for love there was  �� but beside the dreary wrongs
the man merely became not my job

now, be he back to the land
I find my job is done, no better eulogy than this

I was encouraged to learn  �� no better thing than learning
then encouraged to obey, and by logic refusing
was encouraged to fear, and by logic refusing
was encouraged to hate  �� and that logical refusal was long in coming
no better thing that learning even one ��s enemies closest may be walked away from

now, be he back to the land
I find my job goes on, his relevance only eulogy

and where I was to have dreamed
instead a loved life, that those I touch
need not of me an enemy, nor breach of trust
nor eulogy by patient loss
that I be my own job
