used to dearly love Samhain for the community
now, comfortable in a small room
listening to rain
find both the sugar and direct-contact
secondary to the rolling of season

harvest in
rain coming down
like it means the sort of sanctuary
that pulls all stops and burps baroque
whatever the pipes can muster
luster of summer purely blasted
bare limbs remaining

cats in out of the wet
flicking ears and well set to rest
canning jars making that softest of cooling hums
six hours on, and dawn coming
sweets and rituals of someone else ��s reason
aside somewhere, hovering there
acknowledged but unneeded

for now, surprise shoulder cat settling in
good wool, good mead, and Roman floors
steeped well in heat, pleasing feet

chill joyous blast without, get on then
from within my glass be raised
