we breathed in that bouquet, salt and swells
sea burial spilling outwards in consummate transfer
lost signal merely misplaced, thankless duty thanked
a steganography of hiding within, one of a dozen
ships boys all, spread across decking in first-contact
those leviathan deeps brushing them within

while here at mast and silence we count seconds
minute gun ��s first indwelling a chest compression
hearts �� slow restarts bending old dogs
young blood jumping to brief full bay
relenting in ripple blended to ripple

nameless, masterless, warping that grey meter
where season and fathom wipe awry
each pair of goggles, of you and I
escorts to those third-echelon learners

network ghosts turning lathe-cast solvents
where we breathed in that bouquet, salt and swells
outward in consummate transfer
