07/08/2021 (things i learned)
- dr leslie elaine james - george padmore | western academia and anti-imperialism / pan-africanism
- "capitalize" as "make use of"...? nah not a fan
- fuck eng1002
- eng2801 propaganda course is food for thought, like how it can possibly be like this
- closed captions vs subtitles (duh how could i not have known the differnece ugh)
- i wonder if wikipedia is self-archiving with it's history
- archiving youtube's auto-cc / auto-subtitling should be important too! (note: comments might mention them explicitly, so good to have for reference)
- peertube has lots of potential, but should market it differently from youtube. like since it's federated, focus on local communities and less predatory ui. maybe give video format information, promote learning! more control over sorting/searching.
(huh i used the word "market" here, i guess in this context it makes sense, compared to capitalize in talking about anti-colonial stuff)
- i wonder where and how in the world "public domain" or "creative commons" is recognised
- my favourite website is wikipedia FOR SURE
- first archive for http://www.afro-delicious.com :) i wonder if web.archive.org will help archive the entire site and not just the outlinks from home page
- web services are phenominally interesting
- LOTS of new english vocab when listening to humanities academics xD
- dreaming of silang kata malaysia hahah [A,B,D,R,U], what words can you even make with this omg. woke up at like 2am trying every possible permutation my brain can think of
- javascript golfing is fun! they have eval too
- so much to archiving... site maps. live music archives. i guess these are built on what means alot to others and how they felt when something important to them was lost to time. the thing about archiving is that you only notice the need for it always slightly too late
- i should make a azaan electronic recorder hehe
- im definitely not the systematic effective service thinker kind of person
- https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6502424/ how the internet affects a person. should see myself as a product of this too and not above it
- nusantara include singapore hahahaha dont forget this crucial fact! came across this thinking about how a digital archive of malaysia would feature p ramlee, and that singapore is at the forefront of archiving his stuff
- quite unbelievable really, so much work to produce something, and somehow just keeping it existing is difficult, and then available...
- thank you gemlog.blue person huehue i dont even know who you are or why i trust you to keep this service up but i practically am right now. still lazy to archive my own writings... unbelievable now that i think of it, im gonna whip up a program right now
