Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until completely tender, about 30 minutes. Heat a s killet over medium heat and add oil, then add all of the spices and cook over m edium heat until the mustard seeds begin to pop. Slowly spoon the cooked lentil s (water and all) into the skillet with the spices (be careful, it will spatter ), and stir to mix.
