Back when I was first learning toki pona, I made set of "runes" out of some wooden disks and the sitelen pona glyphs. Going through the process of making them was really enjoyable, and actually writing out the symbols helped to lock them into my memory.
I ended up calling them *sike toki*, or 'talking circles'.
Since then, I've used them a few times to review to my knowledge. More amusingly, they've seen use as an idea generator. I pull a few of the tokens out at random, and try to build a complete idea or sentence out of them.
Until recently, they've been sitting on a shelf waiting for me to play with them again. Earlier this week, I found the urge to see what they had to say. I pulled out a handful of them, and this is what they had to say:
"suno jelo li sitelen e sewi o!"
I'm not a religious person, but I can appreciate its influence on poetry and art. Perhaps more importantly, as I look out at today's dreary winter sky, I can look forward to the next time something "on high" chooses to write something sunny amongst the clouds.
