nine ways of looking at snow

I

Wake up!

It snowed!

The world is new again!

II

O! Crisp delight of snowy morn!

Blaring snowblower

yaks all over that.

III

Snow breaks cities

and lights golden eye-fires,

fucks money,

shuts everyone up,

til only the world

is left.

IV

The stream is always dark and going.

Snowy banks wait their turn.

V

All still under the dark winter sky.

Snow twinkles up.

VI

Tire after tireless tire.

Churns white snow

to salted sludge.

VII

Here I lie dead in the mud,

decaying with the sparrows

and the acorns.

Fresh snow half-buries us,

half-hermetically.

VIII

Fresh daffodil punks-

Tiny suns defy

the snow below.

IX

Fat gobs of sunlight send snow

meekly dripping and slouching and sloughing.

Wake up the grubs.
