One of the best features of gemini is how easy it is to roughly understand the whole specification. Of course, the side effect of that is the inevitable thought that "wouldn't it be cool" if it worked just a little differently than it does?
After reading through the mailing list archives (as of summer 2020), however, I've learned that just about everybody seems to have a different idea about which bits should be tweaked and which should be left alone. And, in the end, a lot of the proposals that come out are more of a distraction than an addition.
I'm no better than anyone else. I have my own ideas about ways that gemini could have been different, and a drive to share them with the world. However, I will accept that gemini doesn't actually need to be different just for my sake. So I'm posting my thoughts here, out of the way, for my own entertainment.
These pages are not proposals for gemini, or criticisms. They are just my own "what if" scenarios for where a minimal protocol and markup design like gemini could go if it was different than what gemini is.
I'm dropping a few topics here as reminders to revisit later. These will turn into links as I write pages for them.
