So i'm sitting at this wood table at this little bar halfway between anchorage and girdwood, because i rented one of the rooms they have on the second floor. It snowed maybe 5" today, and on the drive down, traffic was backed up because someone flipped on the seward. The handful of people in the bar are all friends and discussing how many cars they saw in the ditch and how bad driving in anchorage is. Olympics on the one tv. Classic country music is playing. I've had a tasty hamburger and a beer that the bartender fixed for me after checking me in and giving me my room key. It's still snowing.

This is awesome, i'm having such a good day. God i missed alaska.

Went on an expedition with the realtor, saw 4 places (in the heavy snow), basically everything available in our price range. Two places were yuck, one place was nice but weird and already has offers, but the last place was small but well loved, fixed up, and our realtor has an in with the seller's realtor and apparently she is older and hard to reach (she doesn't text) so our realtor thinks we have a better than average chance to get it. Great older guy, Australian, and (he volunteered this info) an aquarian. Really like him, he seems like a straight shooter with lots of experience. Seems like the place for us. Not impressive, nobody's gonna get lost on the way to the bathroom or wonder how we can afford it, but it's just what we need. Single level, great backyard (not that i can see much with the 1-2' of snow), single car garage, 3 small bedrooms, 1.5 bath. Quiet older neighborhood, just around the corner from our good friend who is watching the cats. I peered around the side of the house and there's a little rainbow peace symbol on the fence. Good sign, energy in the house feels good (if that's a thing). We put down earnest money tomorrow. Fingers crossed!!
