I love these types of calculations! You should add to your analysis the space required to generate the world's energy needs solely from current-efficiency photovoltaic panels...

Ooh that's a good point. I can add some extra variables like:

Solar Coverage (as a percentage of "roof" (ground) area)
Solar efficiency
Electricity usage per household

I could even scale that up to other utilities like Water:

Rainwater Collection Rate
Surface Drainage Rate
