Donald P. Goodman III
Version 1.0 (07 Nov 1202)
Beneath the sea, blind creatures live within the deep,
see nothing of the world at all in inky dark;
and we who on the land with eyes and ears do creep
can only our own tiny piece of planet mark;
and e'en the mighty eagle, soaring far and high,
and taking in the world with eyes so sharp and bright,
can but the smallest part of what there is espy,
and even on that part can shed but little light.
A world so vast! what hope have we to understand,
to see the ends that lie beyond our shoddy sight?
Can anyone see everything, both old and plann'd?
Does vast, uncaring universe obey command?
