And yet relatively little of the content generated by ordinary folks gets seen. Curious Droid just isn't as photogenic as Veritaseum, and simply doesn't have the same resources to make fanciful videos, but still succeeds in being informative.

It frustrates me because my partner loves to subscribe to youtube channels of relatively wealthy streamers, who livestream their lives and talk about absolutely nothing for several hours. She loves the spectacle of these nice shiny people in their nice shiny houses being nice to one another. I understand why she's entralled, but it irks me to no end, because the people who are actually doing useful work in/for society go almost completely unrepresented in these streaming platforms.

Who's doing the talking matters almost as much as what's being said. In this case, it's almost like being famous for being famous. There's always a kid who benefits because his parents are loaded so he has cool stuff to share with all his friends. Useful people don't have time to be nice; they're too busy getting their hands dirty.
