Now that Biden has screwed up the retreat of US and its allies from Afghanistan, people begin to mock him as if they could have handled this better.
The fact is, while the retreat from Kabul could have been more carefully planned to make it look better on the superficial level, the Taliban takeover of the whole country cannot be avoided, unless the US and its allies fundamentally change their strategies and keep a strong presence in Afghanistan, which they no longer have the will to do so.
I am no expert, but neither does it require any expertise to see what I have just said. It is just a plain, simple fact. But have you ever seen an expert on TV admitting to this? Well, yes, but only if you watch Chinese TV.
On American TV, there is now bipartisan hypocrisy going on and it's as ugly as it can get.
On the one hand, you have Biden and his supporters, who claim to care so much about "human rights", about "women", about "minorities", about "LGBTQ", betraying their Afghan friends, leaving tens of thousands at the mercy of brutal Taliban, yet there is not even the slightest expression of guilt on their face.
On the other hand, you have Trump supporters, who claim that they could have done this so much better, while all they could really have done, is to retreat in a more orderly manner, and to delay the Taliban takeover by perhaps a couple of weeks. But these people are now acting as if THEY could have been the real protectors of women and children. Hell no. You don't care about them either. You only care about losing face. No matter how beautifully you could have pulled that stunt of retreat, a retreat is a retreat, and the vast majority of Afghan women and children will fall into the hands of Taliban sooner or later.
It is time to stop the hypocrisy, and to come to the realization that the whole country is more screwed than your retreat.
