This is an IKEA FREDDE standing desk. It is usually a sitting desk, but me and my dad built a frame to sit underneath it to raise it to standing desk height. I no longer use this desk, as I downsized, but the frame I build for my replacement smaller desk is very similar, just smaller.

the frame

I can't offer a design as the frame was designed and built with the wood my dad had left over from other projects but I can give some information:

• The Ikea FREDDE desk legs are 40x21mm ovals
• Frame is 500mmx13600mm from center of one leg to center of another

And some woodworking tips:

• Flat drill bits suck, holesaws are better
• Always put two diagonals on something to stop it moving
• Glue is useful but should always have screws/nails holding something too while it dries
• Wood can split if you drill too close to the edge of it
• It is easier to drill a specific hole in a new piece of wood and attach it instead of drilling a whole into a table leg.
