[2021-11-12T02:56:30Z] Is it just me or does it seem like activity surrounding KISS has been dying out [2021-11-12T02:56:39Z] dylan hasn't posted anything in tidbits or posts for a long time [2021-11-12T03:40:52Z] everyone keeps asking this same question [2021-11-12T03:41:25Z] we're part of the community, folx. if we don't talk about anything interesting or do anything exciting, then the KISS community won't be talking about anything interesting or doing anything exciting [2021-11-12T03:44:41Z] it is what it is 😆 [2021-11-12T04:02:34Z] has anyone tried putting kiss on single board computers? I have a old sbc that I want to make use of, but it was very obscure so not much distro support [2021-11-12T04:03:01Z] technically it's a fpga, but it has a regular arm chip too [2021-11-12T04:07:25Z] it wouldn't be any more technically challenging than getting something like ubuntu to run on that board [2021-11-12T04:07:42Z] build a cross toolchain, get a working kernel, get uboot... [2021-11-12T05:24:13Z] jedavies has kiss arm repos no? [2021-11-12T05:38:23Z] arm [2021-11-12T05:38:32Z] so much talk about arm smh [2021-11-12T05:38:37Z] can't we all apreciate leg [2021-11-12T05:43:47Z] Hi [2021-11-12T05:45:26Z] Hi [2021-11-12T11:08:56Z] tleydxdy[m]: I'm running on a pinephone and pinebook. have tried on a couple of other sbcs also [2021-11-12T11:11:40Z] noocsharp: I archived the separate KISS arm/ppc repos. Building e.g. firefox on a small arm device just took too long. [2021-11-12T11:12:39Z] Someone else can take over them if they want, now I just maintain glasnost since it supports multiple architectures and can cross build. [2021-11-12T13:37:15Z] I see, guess I should go ahead and do it then [2021-11-12T18:19:25Z] hiiiii! [2021-11-12T18:37:50Z] hi [2021-11-12T21:35:31Z] So, I'm much further along than I was last time, still not installed though. It just takes, like, a day for everything to compile. [2021-11-12T21:37:22Z] little imx8 single board computer-ish. [2021-11-12T22:06:35Z] love those things :V [2021-11-12T22:06:45Z] build a cross toolchain to save time xD [2021-11-12T22:09:14Z] Could do that, yeah. [2021-11-12T22:10:24Z] i was trying to port a distro to an imx8 board and used crosstool-ng to quickly whip up a static toolchain I put on all my systems to quickly build kernels and uboot. worked nicely enough [2021-11-12T22:10:33Z] didn't get it running but that's mostly because I'm brain damaged /shrug [2021-11-12T22:20:30Z] aren't we all [2021-11-12T22:39:15Z] I have an mnt reform. They have kernel config and device trees all in their repos for me. I just don't know how exactly to hook everything up. I figured I'd just go through the chroot kiss install and pray. [2021-11-12T22:41:50Z] I was looking at oasis, but couldn't get it installed on an arm device. I decided that this was close enough to it. They seem pretty similar. I figure it'll take time for QBE's arm port to mature anyway. [2021-11-12T22:42:48Z] i got oasis installed on an old rpi, required some modification to some packages for arm support [2021-11-12T22:44:21Z] I'm having enough trouble on this, I doubt I could do what it takes to get working. Yeah, I see your name there. I also saw MCF here in the logs here. [2021-11-12T22:48:26Z] I do know some Lua and C, just not to the point of completing any projects in them yet. [2021-11-12T22:53:48Z] Hi ! [2021-11-12T22:54:53Z] Hello [2021-11-12T23:08:34Z] Hi... this might be the wrong place to ask about this, but I am trying (and failing, segfault) to run Firefox in sway, in gentoo linux, using this patch https://github.com/kisslinux/repo/blob/master/extra/firefox/patches/no-x11.patch and I was hoping its maintainer might have some clues as to what I might be doing wrong... please? :') [2021-11-12T23:16:56Z] dylan doesn't hang out here anymore, but there may be people here who know enough to help you [2021-11-12T23:32:05Z] Ok thanks [2021-11-12T23:32:18Z] I'll be patient [2021-11-12T23:32:48Z] noocsharp: do you think dylan would mind if I email him about it, meanwhile?
