I might suggest something like:
preformat = "```" [ [WSP] tag ] [ [WSP] alt-text] end-of-line
tag = '@art' / '@code' / '@data' / '@poem'
What is the need for formalizing this? The alt text as currentlyspecified can easily be used to describe the content of the section inplain words that read as-is by a screen reader would give thenon-sighted user an indication of what comes next and whether theymight want to skip it.
I can see from the follow-up discussion that you don't primarily intendfor these tags to aid in accessibility, but to allow minor adjustmentsto visual presentation. I think that instead of shoehorning thissuggestion for a spec change into a discussion about accessibility inclients you should post it with a new subject so as to avoid taking animportant discussion in an entirely unrelated direction.
I think you recognize the difference between "it would be cool if thespec was changed so that a client could display a code block in adifferent color shade than a poem" and "it would be cool if [Clients]allowed non-sighted users to browse Gemini effectively".
