Hello!

I've been excited about Gemini for a few months now. I think it's a refreshing step back from the giant mess that is the modern web. It's liberating to be able to publish content without spending hours picking through templating tools, themes, javascript libraries, etc. It's not that I hate the web (I certainly do hate parts of it), or think that Gemini will replace it (it won't), but there are undeniably some major problems (in terms of complexity and privacy) in today's web.

Drew DeVault wrote a post on "The reckless, infinite scope of Web browsers" which nicely summarizes (with data!) why web is just too big.

Gemini, on the other hand, is tiny. I *love* that the following are design goals (aspirational ones at least):

My web-based blog is still the place for the big content that benefits from inline images and more control over formatting. Mastodon is the place for those quick little thoughts. My intent is for this Gemini Capsule to be the home for the stuff the falls in the middle.
