It infuriates me that the '£' character sits on so many keyboardconfigurations. Somebody should create a use for it or it should be putout of its misery - it takes up too much realestate.

I personally don't recall the pound symbol having any meaning in gemini,
I'll have to look through the spec again. However!
Charles is refering to '#', not '£'. '#' is called the 'pound
{sign,symbol}' in the telephone system.
