It is reason of concern, but the press really likes to blow things out of proportion.

Some better reasoned sanity here:

'Preliminary studies suggest that this virus exhibits decreased susceptibility to neutralizing antibodies from several people with a history of infection.'

In the thread I linked there should be the exact figures. Vaccines target the whole spike protein (most of them, at least) so it's likely not going to be a problem. It may be for monoclonal antibodies.

The Guardian are most definitely in the corona doomer category. Always highlighting the negative and ignoring the positive. I guess it gets them more clicks.

I wrote to Sen. Wyden regarding this potential issue. Wanted to share it here as well. I believe this is relevant as it could push recovery back further if ignored. Please see Dr. John Campbells video explaining potential effects if you'd like to learn more.

My first thoughts upon this was what benefits as an individual do I have in knowing this and for me the answer is none and I suspect for many it will be detrimental as will only raise anxiety related stress and that is just no good for the immune system.

But I find that to be the case with much of the news today and wonder if it is the news that has changed or how I see the news from a deeper perspective as I get older.

I've tried to stop reading news that I have no control over influencing. It's not apathy, I care deeply for many tragedies, but there is only so much emotional investment that can be split between the worlds many shortfalls, majeures, catastrophes, atrocities... I think sometimes that approach has been mistaken for sociopathy, when it's really not that I don't care, but that it would be worse for my wellbeing if I did.
