I have been intriqued lately with this new Gemini protocol and it's simplicity. I heard it mentioned first on the fsxnet BBS discussion forum. That was several months ago so it has taken me a while to actually look into it more and start playing with it. I am glad that I finally circled back to take another look.
I especially like that I can browse gemini pages from both graphic and commandline browsers.
In my casual browsing today, I ran accross this page:
I really liked the idea of replicating DopeWars but changing it to a futuristic environment without the drug theme. While reading it I was thinking of how it could be written in bash, lua or something similar with a text interface.
Then at the bottom of the above post, the author mentioned doing it in inform7. I have played around a little bit with Inform and I think that this would be fun. I still like the idea of having a textual interface but I also think that having pictures for each scene would be cool. Maybe Inform could randomly choose between 2 or 3 images to display for each "room" to add variety.
Anyway my hats off to ~nttp for what I think is a wonderful idea.
