On how the physical world influences the world of idea

Posted at 2020-07-16

We, as habitants of our world, must obey the physics and its laws. Everything does it. Including the weather.

It's so hot in Ufa (the city where I live) recently! I don't have any fans or air conditioner, thus the outside heat gets to me. I can't concentrate on anything that requires more than three brain cells. So what do I do during the day? Nothing! The only exception is when I go somewhere: to play Magic: the Gathering™ at my local game store, to hang out, etc. There are usually air conditioners everywhere.

Furthermore, I somehow damaged my right wrist. It is harder for me to operate computer because of this. Not painful tho, I use a keyboard layout that's quite good (still not perfect, gotta improve) that puts less stress on the wrist. What drives me crazy, it is the mouse. Always hated it. Now, it's even harder to use. OK, who needs mouse anyway? I haven't used it today.

Mouses are overrated. Repeat after me.

The point of this small article is that we as mere human creatures are really dependent on the real life. If you damage your hand, you can't efficiently operate computer (I can tho); if it's so hot that your head goes dizzy, you can't think properly. If you lose sight, life must become so hard to do! I'm so scared of losing sight as it is the main sense of humans. I'll talk about it more in future essays.

The world of ideas is too dependent on the real life, I don't like it. What should we do? Augment ourselves with those neuroimplants? I feel like they are a meme.

A story from my life. Here in Russia we write tons of lines of text in middle school on lessons of Russian language. Write those stupid textes, underline those dumb parts of speech, do it over again then hand your copybook to the teacher. Repeat. I feel like a Lisp REPL.

I was kinda impressed by the concept of ambidexterity. It's when you can use both your hands equally. Cool thing, not gonna lie. To feel ambidextrous, I started using both hands for some things. Writing with left hand turned out to be a bad idea. Nevertheless, underlining was successful! I would write a word, underline it and go to the next word. It relieved me because I didn't have to switch between a pen and a pencil (pencil is used for underlining). It was really efficient!

Later in high school, we wouldn't underline often. Teachers are more focused on preparing students to the exams. The exams are a meme too.

I remembered this story because I tried to do more things with my left hand. You know, opening stuff, closing it. It is mostly successful but I just can't get used to using fork with the left hand. It's so complicated!

This article doesn't have any structure but does it matter? Enjoy my rants.

And I'll pass programming today to keep my hand safe. Being dependent on the body is sad.
