My wiki is growing

Posted at 2020-08-13

As some of you may know, I'm developer of MycorrhizaWiki, a wiki engine.

bouncepaw/mycorrhiza

Of course I started developing it because I needed it. I want to tell you what I have in my home wiki.

X-Files

I have a stack of ~50 A4 paper sheets with interesting information on them. Most of these files (which I call X-Files) are scanned and are uploaded to the wiki.

Prose

As I have mentioned in one of my posts, I have made several attempts at writing fiction.

I made an effort and exported all fiction texts from my phone. I was surprised to learn that there's actually quite a lot! Here's an excerpt from a hypha (this is what pages are called like in MycorrhizaWiki) ‘prosa’ on my wiki which links all works:

Collection of unfinished prose works.

=> ./revo Some sci-fi story
=> ./ichanea Some fantasy story in the state of Ichanea /ixa.neja/.
=> ./marina_sleep Some love story involving maladaptive daydreaming. It actually has an ending but no beginning.
=> ./загрибовка Mycopolis description.
=> ./paris_myco That one story about Rachel and Ezekiel communicating with mushrooms.
=> ./parc_promenade One paragraph about a walk in a park.
=> ./cultivation That one story about Rachel cultivating reverse-mushrooms.
=> ./pacifique A story about two siblings with funny hats.
=> ./velifera The story about a dude on a sailboat.

Yeah, all hyphae are written in modified gemtext. Support for other markups is planned.

All these stories have interesting ideas in them! I think some of them will find their way to the public. Still, some stories are yet to be added to the wiki.

Worldbuilding materials

I have made several attempts at worldbuilding as well. Some information about them is stored as subhyphae of ‘mundus’ (Latin for ‘world’).

Constructed languages materials

Yeah, of course I have tried these too. For now, only information about The Metaphorical Language (called Lonogi Maefar in Lonogi Maefar) is here.

Constructed scripts materials

Surprisingly, I'm kinda successful with that. I //finished// several conscripts and I use some of them //regularly//. What a success! A draft article about my latest conscript is incubated here; I'll post it at my website and, perhaps, here too, when I get back to it. There are some images of that conscript online btw.

You can also read about my conscript Sunskribo at my website (in Russian)

Programming materials

Actually, there isn't a lot of programming stuff on my wiki! Nevertheless, some ideas about my numerous macro-processors and other types of pre-processors can be found. It's mostly outdated.

Etc

Random ideas, plans and secrets are stored here. Nothing fancy.

Conclusion

The whole idea of private wiki is not unique to me.

~xj9 has made a post about her memex recently

Devine Lu Linvega has a personal wiki

There are lots of others, I'm just lazy to look for them right now. Ping me and I can add yours.

By the way, take a look at Transjovian Council. A wiki for geminauts!

I have forgotten to mention that I named my wiki — Cyberrachel (as in cyber Rachel). As you may have guessed, Rachel is one of my favorite female names (the other one is Marina).

Thanks to one of recent updates of MycorrhizaWiki, changes are now saved to git. I was quite surprised to learn that I made around 130 commits today!

P.S. Please someone use MycorrhizaWiki, it has gemtext and will support things that no one can imagine!
