I like the Moto G Play devices. I still have an old one from 2016 sitting in my backpack that used to be my main. These days I'm rocking the z3 play from 2019, still getting updated through (de-googled) lineageOS.
Looks like your model indeed sports a qualcomm sm6225 snapdragon. My moto z3 play rocks a qualcomm snapdragon 636. Not the most powerful by 2024 standards, but I barely use my phone aside from the occasional firefox browsing/music on the go, and of course, placing calls (do people still do that with phones anymore?). :-)
Hope you're well, ~tffb, and enjoy your labor day!
hey rav3ndust, yea it's a good phone, a bit snappier than the Moto G 5G, as there was always some lag with that particular unit. The Play is limited to 4G LTE, but that isn't a bad thing imo. I find 5G/4G speeds in comparison to be negligible and whatever investment went into building out the infrastructure for the "cell towers" was a waste of money on the part of the carriers, imo. It's their money, they can burn it for all I care.
I thought of either Lineage or calyxOS for the G Play, though the latter might only be for Pixel phones.
stay well, RD
