So the Fool is announcing his cabinet picks and they are so terrible it's obviously trolling just to get the libs to jump up and down and froth at the mouth. I told spouse, we should not give them the reaction they want. We should do like Tina Fey says and "agree and amplify". Matt Gaetz is perfect for AG. He's got hands-on human trafficking experience - name another AG that had that. Two years at a law firm is plenty. Experience is just something people made up to gatekeep those with natural talent. How do we know degrees and experience even matter? We should follow this example and fire all the police chiefs and replace them with rookie cops, too. Let's let family doctors do heart surgeries while we're at it. You know who would make a great cabinet member? Barron. Ignore Eric and the other one, put Barron in charge. Gotta send a message that no one gets free handouts.
Seriously, we can't let them get our goat on this. The only way to survive is to out dumb them. Our weakness has been that we take things seriously. We think things like truth and integrity matter. They don't anymore, millions of americans said so. We're in the clown world now for reals, put on the red nose and rainbow wig.
I'm too tired to start freaking out about all the stupid antics and outright horrors we know this asshole is going to foist on us in the next four years. I need to ration my freakouts. There are no consequences for whatever he does, aside from hopefully being reviled as a living mistake in human history for as long as anyone cares to study the politics of the 2020s. I cared a lot and immersed myself in all these podcasts and political deep dives for years. Who gives a shit. If, in four years, we can't get a single scrap of justice for a guy who fomented an insurrection and blah blah blah, maybe the system deserves to be flushed down the toilet by that same guy. Maybe it's not as precious and respectable as we've been led to believe. Yeah sure, put Matt fucking Gaetz in charge. Wear that clown nose.
I did listen to some of my podcasts yesterday, as they are digesting the election and posting their thoughts. I was cleaning and I haven't developed new podcast habits yet. One of the takeaways was that people voted for the Fool because his policies were simple and sounded good immediately, and the dems were too complicated and hard to boil down. "No taxes on tips. No taxes on overtime." And they have a point there. Modern life is getting more and more complex. Starting a business or getting health care treatment or paying taxes is a long series of hoops, and not everyone is equipped with the same resources and brainpower and time to deal with them. Things should be made simpler so the average person can navigate them. Democrats like to propose more convoluted bandaid solutions - tax exemptions, etc. But that just piles on more hoops and paperwork instead of fixing the underlying problem. And there is little handholding help available to make sure people get all the relief that was intended. So I can see how the Fool's policies might sound good on the surface to people willing to believe he knows how to make those ideas into a positive reality. Also I can understand why people would resent the democrats for focusing on people with higher education who work white collar jobs and have broader social ideals (urbanites). It's petulant and childish, but there is a sense that democrats look down on a person of low-to-average mental capability who just wants to finish high school, get married to the opposite gender, make babies, own a truck and have their kids do the same as them for generations. Student loan relief, for example. If you didn't go to college because you didn't have the money or make the opportunity, it might seem like a slap in the face that those that did get their debt forgiven. Clearly those people are the preferred class. And the republicans are exploiting that immature mindset.
I mean, are we looking at an intelligence divide here? Open minded vs close minded?
Will this result in both parties aggressively courting the emotionally stunted 2.0 GPA voter (if we don't turn into a dictatorship)?
I still don't see how anyone could overlook reproductive rights or the threat to LGBTQ or the whole lack of integrity and fascist batshit craziness of the republicans. I don't get how you could have your blinders on so tight that none of that penetrated. But did the dems take it for granted that they could run any candidate and stick to their scripts and get elected because the Fool is so untouchably awful? Yeah, I think they did. Biden should have never tried to run for a second term. They should have been prepped and ready with a fresh alternative. I don't think they grasped the urgent need for them to show themselves as the smart, capable saviors. They needed a big audacious progressive tentpole to benefit the working class, like universal health care or raising the minimum wage and guaranteeing sick/vacation days. Successfully prosecuting the Fool would have been nice. But they wussed out, because they calculated they didn't need to go that far.
So here we are. And now a lot of us are going to be checked out.
Seriously, what department or agency is he going to give Barron?
