Howdy, all!
~bartender? Some good filter coffee with cream and sugar, ah, take a big mug, it needs to last a bit. Thanks! --- Ah, and one of your ethernet cables, please! No, wireless is kind of never working when I need it most. :-)
/me heads over to the table in the dark corner near the power outlet and the hidden ethernet jack. I fetch my small notebook and the key dongle from my backpack and set those up on the table.
~bartender serves my coffee and inquires: Why oh why?
Debian 12.8 is out! Hot off the press, so to speak. I found out just before coming in! :-) And now, I'm going to remote update all my stuff running Debian. Nah, I'm not expecting exciting puzzles along the way, but who knows ...
/me takes a sip of coffee, nods over to ~inquiry and the other patrons chatting away, and logs in.

An hour or so, and a refill later, and 8 systems are up to date! Success!
A long time ago, when cardboard boxes with Linux distributions in them were still a thing, I said "Debian unstable is more stable than the stuff in those boxes, in my humble opinion." Unstable has failed on me maybe 2 or 3 times in >20 years. And I could always fix it without reinstalling. Ok, ok, I'm being guilty of adding boring tech stuff to gemini. AGAIN!
Cheers!

debian was
my daily driver
for a looong time
recently i got on
the nixos train
but when
i got this new laptop
the nixos installer
didn't want to cooperate
which led me to
installing mx linux
great debian based distro
so basically back to deb
in a roundabout way
although
i still dig nix
so eventually
i'll be installing
the nix package on mx
it really is a great way
to manage and install packages
take a look if you haven't ;)
