Knotting-machine: How would you go about it technically? Is anyone familiar with the mechanics of knotting tools? I am looking for a DIY tool to easily but efficiently attach labels to a string. However, it is important that there are different knots. Expensive knotting machines are out of the question, as are the tools from the fishing supplies which doesn't fit. I find it extremely difficult to imagine the mechanics of how a specific knot is made with a tool or what the tool should look like. Thank you for any tips!!!

I know nothing. However consider that to make a knot, you need to make a loop by crossing the thread or whatever and picking it up from inside, in other words, you require at least one extra dimension. For a one-dimensional thread, you need two in order to go sideways enough to create a loop, and one more dimension to pull and end over, then under and up...
If all you need is one simple knot, I imagine a rotating disk with a flippy arm which, after a complete revolution, drags the end around the formed loop.
Actually, consider how a sewing machine does it (in the part that is below the stitch. You need a device that makes loops then allows them to slip around itself.

I watched some videos where label knotting machine are shown. The mechanisms were not directly explained to me. In addition, a diy tool would be another hurdle, namely that in the end it is really more efficient than knotting by hand. (1/2)
