sometime ago my friend asked me what's the difference between RAM and ROM

obviouslly he isn't much techie and don't know how computer works so he asked me to test if I could expalin to a non techie about this stuff. and here is the answer I gave him:

RAM and ROM both are memory however the big difference is that read/write on RAM is faster than ROM so the software got loaded from ROM to RAM so we could have faster read write.

my answer:

because RAM is expensive and volatile you can't have persistent data on RAM.
