Mine it for credit card numbers and passwords of the last user and sell it to someone over Tor?
If the hdd is dead, you can open it up (if you have torx screwdrivers) and extract the strong magnets (be careful with those) and the platters, which make for nice unbreakable mirrors.

@mbays those mirrors are nothing like unbreakable on a 2.5" drive. If your kids ever have to make a "musical" instrument for school. Hit an old 2.5" drive (non-ssd obvs) with a hammer a couple of times and it makes a cracking maraca/rattle.
@mrrobinhood5 assuming a sata interface I'd probs just get a piece of wood or even thick card and screw down to cover any exposed pcb and then get a sata to usb adapter for next to nothing.
