Random question. I'm planning to buy a new laptop for uni, since I've just broken my ten-year-old MacBook. I have decided on a ThinkPad T450, but I need some help deciding on the hostname.
On one hand, since it's a ThinkPad, I could call it Amethyst-II (my T400 is called Amethyst).
On the other hand, since it's replacing my MacBook, I could call it Pearl-III (the MacBook was called Pearl-II, and my first MacBook was just called Pearl).
What do you think?

How about calling it something new? "Opal", for example

So it's Gemstones, right? If it's an IBM Thinkpad, that's Big Blue, so could go with Sapphire or Bluejohn?

I'm posting this from a T450, with (--pretty) hostname "Darth Zannah" (--static "darthzannah"). All my ThinkPads take her hostnames from characters with the Darth title.
My daily machine is a T470, an I5 that I got for $75 a couple of years back. My best, favorite machine! It didn't even stop when I spilled 1L of water directly onto the keyboard (It has a drain, as I found out). 'Invincible' is my suggestion!
my thinkpad is called "tank" :)
or HAL because that's a shifted IBM.
