there is generally some monthly cost associated with everything. For me freedom is to have a ~1k rent in the middle of nowhere with decent internet access. Boat life seems fun, but they still (pino) pay nearly as much as my rent in the winter when docked in Victoria. But it's inspiring way of life. A lot can be emulated in a normal work/rent style too. Own as little as possible, as if to fit on a boat, not including the tools you need to maintain the place you live in.

Terrestrial version of Pino? — The Hundred Rabbits crew—and others, to be sure—achieve considerable independence by living on a boat. I've been wondering if there are other ways to get a taste of this kind freedom from everyday material constraints (i.e., having to make rent). Last week I saw an article about a couple living in a customized van. At 72 square feet, I think this Ram ProMaster has a smaller volume than the Hundred Rabbits boat.
