Who all solos TTRPG?

I caught the bug to get back into TTRPG last spring. Of course being a dad of two small children and working remotely I have very little IRL human interaction that isn't just doing the parenting thing. So I started down the deep rabbit hole of Solo play. Summer got busy so I put that all on the back burner but now with the weather changing and less going outside I'm going to start back up.

Who all here likes to Solo TTRPG?

I started a couple years back when I discovered Ironsworn/Starforged. I tried to keep it up but found it difficult to after a while. I used the long form journaling approach and fell into that trap where I look at what I wrote and felt it was all bad. I didn't even know what direction I wanted to take and nothing was inspiring me anymore. Despite that setback, the interest was always there.

I actually started a capsule for this endeavour but it stalled out before I could even post anything. I still want to continue it though...

That said, I am actually playing Starforged again using a webapp I found. It's almost perfect, but I hope it's enough to keep me engaged with it this time!

I do love the flexibility that solo TTRPG grants, but there's a part of me that would still like to play with others as well. Preferably over play-by-post rather than live!

What system(s) have you solo-played? Which one(s) are you thinking of playing this time?

I have been using Mythic 2e for my DM or just a simple 3d6 Oracle to manage things when I'm playing more OCR games.

I originally started out playing Dungeon Crawl Classics with Mythic and it worked well. Since DCC is more gonzo i just viewed it as a real dungeon crawl and not a ton of storyline. But eventually everyone died so I decided to try something new. Gonzo is more fun with other people.

I then tried Whitebox but it was too OCR. 3 campaigns all ending their first night with total team loss. That one i used the 3d6 Oracle which worked well. I was hoping for a single tiny book, note book and a few d6 to make a really portable solo experience.

The one semi working game I have is using Dungeon World and Mythic. Since DW is more about story evolution I haven't run into a bad night with the dice. It also works well with journaling. Mythic has a ton of tables and so I'm actually doing well with story generation as well.

The only down side is DW doesn't ever have the crunchy dice battles. Sometimes I just want to roll a bunch. But looking back i had nights with DCC that were all rolling and nothing happening. Maybe I feel like I want something i don't actually want.

If i do another dice heavy game it will be Advanced TinyD6. Still a single small book, crunchier than DW but not really OCR. Might be a 3d6O GM too.

I really should get started. I've got a bunch of TFT solos I really need to play, although that probably isn't what you are thinking of. I have Starsworn and Ironsworn, but have bounced off them so far. I recently got the Advanced Fighting Fantasy Adventure Creation System. It can be used to create adventures for GMs to run but is also intended for solo adventures as well. I'm not very far into it yet, but I like what I've seen so far.

@TKurtBond I just bought The Augur, which is a web based VTT with procedural generation and AI support to play either agnostics systems or Ironsworn or Starsworn. I've ever tried that system but did watch the second season of Me, Myself, and Die which ran Ironsworn so I'm familiar with it.
