In the geminispace it seems to be common knownledge that the web is broken is broken in some ways -- at least if you see it as a place of pure democracy, free speech and free culture. Nowadays, the corporate influence to the web seems to be more than ever before. This feels really sad to me: Even if I publish a blog post on the web, I need to understand that personal websites and blogs are in the minority nowadays. The web seems to be the disturbing playground of huge companies like Google and Facebook (a new name does not change the bad company). In the geminispace this seems to be common knownledge, which is really important to have today imho. I deeply hope that capitalist interests won't affect the geminispace in the future -- because those would probably destroy it as they did with the web of personal websites and blogs. Sure, those aren't gone completely. But they seem to play a role in the background, at least from my point of view.
Probably it's important to look out for this background. But maybe not just when it comes to the web.
