Bug/Improvement: I accidentally entered the sequence 11346 instead of 12346. The duplicate was silently discarded so only 1346 were kept resulting in reduced score ;( Ideally if input contains duplicates the user should receive an error and be able to submit a new request.

@gritty Is the Gamelog page broken? It should probably be collecting the old games to the monthly subpages (like for April and May 2024) but for several months it's just been accumulating entries. Also, could you reverse the sort order? Seeing yesterday's game at the top would be convenient.

This month's tournament is really something. As it stands currently, we could even end with a 3-way tie for 1st place. Tune in tomorrow for the finale!

Haven't been following the tournament too closely this month, but looks like @drh3xx has had it in the bag for a while now. Another runaway winner... Don't forget to wear your 👑 if you want. 🙂 I've been having decent luck this week for a change, which is nice.

@Queen_City_Nerd wins the July tournament! This time the tournament progressed more evenly. A double win with +10 points near the end could've swung the result in any direction. Certainly made it more interesting to follow, although the tournament shouldn't be winnable by just having good luck... I wonder if 30 days is sufficient time to actually filter out the random noise and produce a statistically significant result? Anyway, congrats!

A UX suggestion — I usually play on my Android phone, and the keyboard pops up with qwerty, not numbers, requiring an extra keystroke every time. I'd love to be able to use 'qwerty' mapped to 123456 positions. it's a little or unorthodox, but would improve the power user experience.

I would like to suggest if ever there is a desire to change, that first place gets 5 points, 2nd gets 4, 3rd get 3, 4th gets 2 and 5th gets 1 in the tournament. What I've noticed is that to get to place 1,2, or 3 you need to get such a high score that I end up playing more of a all or nothing. I see that if there are more positions/point I could be using a different technique of consistantly going for 4 or 5 place instead of a higher place. I think it would worth a try. When I play that type of...

it appears 'total games' has a bug... there's not enough days since the implementation to have 32 games. adding to the todo list. this of course is throwing off the 'per game' averages. I'm hoping it's just how I'm pulling the data.

I still haven't resolved the tie for first on the weekly high score. after yesterday, it's happening more than I thought. I'll try to get to this soon

Update: I pushed the new user stats feature. Currently it is not tracking the tournament stats, so those will always be zero, for now.

Congrats @satch for winning the June tournament. You can now wear your 👑 flair if you like. :) The second tournament seemed to progress similarly to the first one, with the winner being clear from about mid-month onward. We only have a sample size of two, but I believe this reflects the 5-3-1 scoring: if one happens to get the top rank on multiple days, it builds a lead that's hard for anyone to beat due to the strong randomness in the game.

@gritty have you done a distribution analysis of your rng for farkle? I could just be exceptionally unlucky but the number of times I get farkled when rolling with 3 dice in play feels disproportionately high. The odds of getting just a single 1 or 5 is 30% for a single die so with 3 dice in play there should be a pretty low risk of a farkle given there are additional scoring options with 3 dice.

Update If I didn't break anything, here's the newest features: Added: weekly high score that resets after Sundays Updated: ties for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place should now give points to everyone, e.g., if you tied for 3rd you'll get 1 point, even if the database pushed you out of the top three when sorting in descending order Note: I'll try and keep an eye on the tournament scoring for a couple days to make sure it's still functioning correctly
