Anyone interested in doing a Godel, Escher, Bach book club over the next ~23 weeks? — I made a pledge to finally read through the entirety of GEB instead of just getting a few chapters in and stopping over and over again. “The plague” by Albert Camus I got this book a few weeks ago and I’m having a great time with it! A lot of the situations and issues it places are extremely relatable to me (in many ways) and feel extremely akin to modern times, especially in relation to the never-ending “progress” bullshit we’ve been fed lately. Maybe my reading of the book is a little too political, but I’m enjoying it a lot so far! Would love to read more works by Camus after this one, good stuff.

“An island garden” — a sweet one I’m almost finishing “an island garden” by Celia Thaxter, and it’s been such a nice experience! I love how she describes the smallest details on her garden, and how she gives seemingly little dots of advice for whoever that needs them. It’s a sweet, warm book with such a passion for the subject of gardening that I’ve caught myself smiling at some descriptions of Thaxter’s love towards flowers. books I started 🪲 — I finally started reading again, some of the books I got for my birthday are “distant star” (Bolaño), “To the Lighthouse” (Woolf), “An island garden” (Thaxter) and “Sacred and Terrible Air” (Kurvitz). I’m specially excited for the last one, since I’m not too used to reading tougher books in english, and it’ll be a fun challenge! I’ll try to remember updating them, and how much I enjoyed each one.

I just finished the first book in the Murderbot series and I really liked it. it was recommended around here on Gemini somewhere. The first book was a quick read. Good story, decent bit of action, and interesting plot and character development. I haven't bought the second because I'm on the fence about the price tag. I might search around and buy direct instead of Kindle so the money goes hopefully more towards the author.

I've been obsessed with Jennifer Egan's work this year. I've been, very slowly, reading everything I can get my hands on... — If you have time for one book, definitely read "The Keep".
