"Kiki's Delivery Service" follows a story of a young witch, leaving her home behind to train and eventually start her very own business. Starting a new life in a completely new city turns out to not be so easy, but with the help of a few kind people, Kiki is able to overcome most of her hurdles and learns a lot along the way.
There is also a conflict, or rather a problem in herself that Kiki has to solve, like in other Studio Ghibli films. However, I found that it's not as severe or as impactful as in some of their other films, which... is actually really good in my opinion. It fits the overall theme and doesn't spoil the atmosphere of a fairy tale.
The visuals, as well as music, are absolutely fantastic, I still have in my head the landscapes and the scenery of the city that is partially stuck between 1920s and today.
I've heard people complain that Kiki's Delivery Service ends abruptly, but I simply did not feel about it this way. There are no fireworks at the end, no villain to defeat, no great conflict to solve, but that's not what the film was ever about. Kiki just moves on with her life and that's how it usually is. Sweet and simple. I adore it.
