Introductions (2021-09-18)

Hello! This is CalmBit, a relatively new explorer to the Gemini sphere, albeit already entranced by its minimalistic charm.

I enter this first bit into my first gemlog in order to just catalouge my feelings about Gemini right now:

There's something intensely exciting about trying to work within a limited set of parameters. I feel it focuses down what you're trying to articulate, even if just a little. Less distractions, less meaningless fluff.

That isn't to say there's not something to be gained from meaingless fluff, mind you - not everything is a dissertation on serious subjects, and it's good to be able to laugh.

I think the most important thing about gemini right now is its propensity for attracting like-minded individuals from all sorts of places, whose interests are quite possibly (and hopefully) varied from my own, and yet have a decent level of respect for a technology that doesn't breed experiences that are innately user hostile.

I feel like the attraction to Gemini is an attraction to what individuals can bring to the table when they're not siloed into big web spaces and giant web-app "experiences" that try to be and do everything.

I hope to browse and write more and really take in the bulk of the experiences here.
